The Adventures of the Opera Explorers
The Adventures of the Opera Explorers is a fun, interactive adventure story where our intrepid heroes - Captain Confident and his faithful sidekick, Miss Newbie - go where others are afraid to go - to find out what makes opera a great way to tell the story.
By discovering operatic "treasures", the Explorers are transported directly into operatic scenes, magically singing the music and learning about opera. They learn about the types of stories told in operas, types of characters, plots, singing in groups, and most importantly, how live music and singing can tell the audience how characters feel, and engage their imagination.
Performed by classically trained opera singers and a real live pianist (no recorded music here!), audiences can get up close and personal with an art form that's been bringing audiences to their feet for over 400 years. Included are fourteen excerpts from eleven different operas by Mozart, Puccini, Beethoven, Bizet, Rossini, Gounod, Strauss, Gershwin and Gilbert & Sullivan, both in English and their original languages. Students also get the chance to join in and be part of the story.
Here's what others are saying about The Adventures of the Opera Explorers:
"Once again, I want to let you know how much I enjoyed your program. As I said before, your show went way beyond my expectations and I become most excited as I watched the reaction of the audience. Your excellent writing and performances, including the pianist, kept young and old engaged the entire time." - Carol Lidard, Peabody Elderhostel Manager
So join in the fun! Let us show your group how opera is a great way to tell a story!
